Château Clare is located in a unique natural setting in a clearing at the heart of the Landiras forest, where pine trees protect the Château against the relentless winds coming from the Atlantic Ocean. The Carreyre family, winemakers from generation to generation, bought the estate in 1733. The name Clare was chosen by one of its ancestors, symbolising his love for a certain girl called Claire.
Fast-forward five generations and since 1991, Thierry has overseen the vineyard’s rapid expansion, to increase from 9 to 17 ha. The vines are spread across two plateaux composed of small gravel, at its deepest exceeding 8-10m. Well-drained, this stony terroir provides regular water to the vines, aided by the Budos underground natural springs, which supply all of southern Bordeaux. This exquisite, natural setting reveals its very best in this fruity, fleshy Graves wine.

Mainly made up of small gravel, in some parts 8-10m deep. 85% of the vineyard is located on 2 plateaux, with small, north and south facing valleys. A stream lies below the plateau and adjoining the estate.
60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc.

A fruity, fleshy Graves wine
The wines at Château Clare are typical of the Graves region. Deep in colour, they reveal appealing aromatic intensity with delicate baked cherry-fruit notes. Generous and well-balanced on the palate, the wine culminates in an appealing, lingering finish.
